Amman, July 29 (Petra) – Secretary General of the Ministry of
Industry, Trade and Supply, Dana Zoubi, affirmed progress was made in
implementing projects of Jordan’s Industrial Policy for 2024–2028.

Chairing the 7th periodic meeting of the National Team for
Implementing the Industrial Policy 2024-2028, Zoubi said intensifying
efforts of the technical working groups in the coming phase is
“crucial” to ensuring completion of the plan and projects within
their specified timeframe.

She noted this action reflects the Royal directives to enhance
“competitiveness” of national industry, increase added value, and
diversify products.

As for its goals, she stated the policy, based on the Economic
Modernization Vision, focuses on cutting production costs, enhancing
resource efficiency, and building human and technical capacities to
meet the requirements of the industrial sector and the developments
of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

This scenario, she noted, would promote capacity of local products to
increase their market share in regional and international markets.

According to a ministry statement issued Wednesday, the meeting
tackled progress in implementing the National Energy Efficiency
Program for Jordan’s industrial facilities.

Participants went over distributing a questionnaire to the most
energy-intensive facilities to assess impact of electricity and fuel
costs and conduct awareness workshops to promote energy conservation.

Also within the energy sector, the discussions reviewed the supply of
natural gas to industrial zones.

In this context, tenders for implementation and consultancy services
for Al-Rawda Industrial Zone and Al Muwaqar Industrial Estate ( MIE)
were awarded, and environmental approval was granted for the Mafraq
Development City, paving the way for the tendering process.

The attendees also discussed the findings of a study on
transportation services in Al-Qastal Industrial Estate and
recommendations for improving transportation in Irbid. These
recommendations aimed to expand contracted transportation, increase
permits, and provide a shuttle commuting service.

Regarding environment, the meeting announced the guidelines for the
“Jordanian Environmental Label,” adopted its visual identity, and
initiated its registration and the formation of its technical
committees, which coincided with preparations for the second cycle of
the Green Factory Award.

In ​​skills and added value area, attendees presented proposals for
expanding vocational training and production branches, and completing
automation of licensing for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Discussions also covered ways to attract investments in the textile
sector, develop strategies for the chemical, food, and engineering
industries, launch an applied research program, develop a food safety
system in accordance with EU standards, and conduct a feasibility
study for semiconductor manufacturing.

Concluding the event, the team reviewed investment promotion efforts,
implementation of the “Made in Jordan” program, and memoranda of
understanding related to green hydrogen and ammonia, as well as
developing mining opportunities, and enhancing companies’ readiness
to participate in international exhibitions.
