Amman, August 11 (Petra) – Secretary-General of the Jordanian Nursing
Council (JNC) Hani Nawafleh met on Tuesday with Libyan Minister of
Labor Ali Rida to discuss expanding cooperation in nursing and
midwifery training.

Meeting with senior Libyan officials and the embassy’s labor attaché,
Nawafleh pointed to the longstanding ties between Jordan and Libya.

To support Libya’s healthcare workforce, Nawafleh pledged the JNC’s
technical and advisory expertise to help mirror Jordan’s approach to
nursing education and regulation.

He voiced the JNC’s history under the leadership of HRH Princess Muna
Al-Hussein, World Health Organization Patron for Nursing and
Midwifery in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, and its role in
advancing the professions locally, regionally and internationally.

Rida, for his part, stated Libya’s keenness to draw on Jordan’s model
to establish a specialized Libyan nursing framework, set up training
institutes, and upskill local trainers. He noted that nurses make up
the largest portion of Libya’s healthcare workforce and are essential
to delivering quality patient care.

Both sides agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding (MoU)
under their respective national legal frameworks. The planned
agreement covers establishing specialized training centers,
developing continuous professional education systems, hosting Libyan
trainees in Jordan, and dispatching Jordanian experts to Libya.

Discussions also focused on sharing Jordan’s expertise in developing
national licensing exams, question banks, clinical simulation
centers, and competency frameworks tied to professional license
renewal.
