Cairo, Sept. 29 (Petra) — The Arab League’s Joint Meeting of the
Technical Committees for Land, Maritime, and Multimodal Transport
discussed developing the transport system and strengthening logistics
integration among Arab states.

During its 26th meeting held at the Arab League’s headquarters, the
committee went over 19 agenda items, according to a statement from
the League’s General Secretariat.

The event serves as the preparatory committee for the Council of Arab
Transport Ministers, scheduled to meet in November.

Discussions covered the draft Arab convention on regulating passenger
transport by road between and across Arab states, and the convention
on regulating freight transport by land.

The statement said members also reviewed the electronic portal for
land transport.

The meeting tackled a protocol on transporting hazardous materials,
including signs and labels for goods carried by trucks. The axes also
addressed the unified Arab road safety strategy and digital
transformation in the transport sector.

As for its scope, the agenda featured the impact of geopolitical
developments on supply chains in the Arab region. The discussions
also covered ways to strengthen logistics integration and Arab food
security through inter-Arab development corridors.

The committee will submit its recommendations to the Executive
Office, which will be referred to the Council of Arab Ministers of
Transport at its November 2026 session for consideration for approval
and implementation.
