Doha, September 29 (QNA) – Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has commenced a national project to develop Hamad General Hospital’s facilities, systems, infrastructure and supporting services.

An Ashghal statement on Tuesday said the project was part of a national strategy aimed at comprehensively enhancing the hospital’s operational readiness and safety levels to ensure the delivery of a wide range of medical services in accordance with the highest standards.

The initiative is being implemented in cooperation and coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) at a total cost of roughly QR 1.179 billion. It is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2027.

Acting Head of the Health Projects Section at Ashghal Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi said the project includes three main packages to ensure the continued operation of the hospital’s vital departments and services throughout the project.

The three phases include the construction of a new Day Surgery Building, the modernization of the Outpatient Tower and the hospital’s Main Building, the renovation and rehabilitation of the North and South Inpatient Towers, as well as the upgrading of a number of systems, supporting services and infrastructure.

  HMC’s Head of Healthcare Facilities Development Hamad Al Khalifa said the project forms part of HMC’s ongoing efforts to modernize its facilities and infrastructure in line with the continued development of healthcare services and the growing needs of patients and visitors.

Meanwhile, Eng. Maryam Al Marzouqi, Project Engineer, said the project includes the complete replacement of the hospital’s mechanical and electrical systems, internal drainage systems and supporting services in accordance with the latest technical and engineering standards. (QNA)
