Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) – The Correction and Rehabilitation
Department (CRD) participated on Tuesday in the 2026 Reading
Marathon, organized by the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation, alongside
cultural and national institutions nationwide.
According to its statement, the department said the initiative seeks
to foster a culture of reading, build inmates’ intellectual skills,
and support their successful reintegration into society.
Prison libraries saw “strong” inmate turnout after facilities
prepared a “wide” range of books and hosted cultural activities
designed to encourage continuous learning and personal development.
As for its future vision, the department continues to expand its
educational and cultural programs under a comprehensive
rehabilitation vision that centers on human growth, viewing knowledge
and awareness as essential foundations for positive behavioral
change.
