Amman, Sept. 28 (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II chaired a
meeting on Tuesday to review government progress in the gas sector,
and its strategic plans to reinforce energy security and boost
national economic competitiveness.

During the meeting held at Al Husseiniya Palace and attended by
Chairman of the National Policies Council His Royal Highness Prince
Feisal bin Al Hussein, and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan His Majesty
was briefed on implementation of plans to expand production at Risha
Gas Field, and link it to the Arab Gas Pipeline to boost gas supplies
and support the country’s growing energy needs.

The King was also briefed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources
Saleh Kharabsheh on gas sector plans under Jordan’s comprehensive
energy strategy, local gas market developments, gas import and export
plans, as well as the Amman-Zarqa Gas Distribution Network Project,
which aims to expand domestic use.

Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad
Shehadeh, Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh, and a number of
government officials attended the meeting.
