Cabinet Reviews Implementation of Measures to Stabilize Exchange Rate and National Currency

Khartoum, (SUNA) – The Council of Ministers held its regular meeting on Tuesday in Khartoum, chaired by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris.Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir said in a press statement that the Council of Ministers began its meeting by discussing the economic situation and heard a briefing from Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif on the decisions and measures taken by the government to control prices and the exchange rate and stabilize the national currency.Khalid Al-Eisir said that the Council of Ministers discussed gold export policies and directed the formation of a committee to coordinate among the relevant authorities and harmonize financial policies and measures to ensure the quality of gold export services in Sudan.The Minister of Culture and Information noted that the meeting reviewed the work of the National Committee for Economic Management and affirmed the need for the committee to continue its work to improve the economic situation.He added that the meeting discussed the policy governing the import of used cars and affirmed the need to take decisions regarding it.The Council of Ministers also reviewed a report on the performance of the 2025–2026 summer agricultural season, including the current situation of the agricultural season and ways to support farmers.The Minister of Culture and Information explained that the Council of Ministers approved the 2026 amendment to the Petroleum Wealth Act, noting that the meeting reviewed the country’s petroleum products situation. He pointed to assurances from the Minister of Energy that additional petroleum products would become available in the coming hours.BH/BH
