Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) – Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj.
Gen. Majdi Al Harasis visited the German Jordanian University (GJU)
on Tuesday, where GJU President Prof. Alaa Al-Halhouli received him.

During the visit, Al Harasis discussed continued cooperation between
the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) and GJU and ways to
strengthen collaboration in academic, scientific, and training
fields, making use of specialized expertise and capabilities.

In the presence of several senior JAF officers and members of the
university’s academic and administrative staff, the army chief was
briefed on the university’s establishment and academic journey, its
main programs and specializations, and its achievements in education,
scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The briefing also highlighted the university’s role in preparing and
qualifying students amid rapid developments in technology, science,
and the research system.

Al Harasis also inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence Computing and
Operations system (AICOR), launched by GJU in partnership with the
Special Communications Commission. The system aims to strengthen the
university’s capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), scientific
research, and practical applications, while linking academic and
research expertise with practical needs and challenges.

Attendees were briefed on the system’s capabilities in AI,
cybersecurity, data analytics, and generative AI, as well as its role
in enabling students and researchers to work on real-world use cases
and transform them into prototypes and applied solutions.

The chairman toured the Technology, Research and Innovation Complex
and several specialized scientific laboratories and academic
facilities, where he reviewed the university’s learning environment,
equipment and resources available to students, as well as facilities
supporting education and research.

Al Harasis stressed the importance of strengthening partnerships
between the armed forces and academic and scientific institutions,
describing them as a key pillar in developing national expertise and
providing the armed forces with modern knowledge and skills.

He said such cooperation should keep pace with military,
technological, and scientific modernization requirements,
highlighting the importance of exchanging expertise and drawing on
scientific research outcomes to improve performance and strengthen
cooperation between military and academic institutions in areas of
mutual scientific and technical interest.

For his part, Al Halhouli affirmed the university’s commitment to
enhancing cooperation with the JAF and harnessing its academic,
research, and training expertise and capabilities in support of
national institutions.

He highlighted the importance of partnerships between higher
education institutions and national bodies in developing expertise
and supporting development and modernization efforts.

At the conclusion of the visit, Al Harasis commended GJU’s academic
and scientific standards and the efforts and accomplishments of its
faculty members and students in education, research, and innovation.

He stressed the importance of continuing to build effective
institutional partnerships that contribute to developing national
capabilities and strengthening the Kingdom’s knowledge and innovation
ecosystem.
