Role of Private Sector in Boosting Intra-GCC Trade

(ONA) — The Board of Directors of the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC)
today held its 69th meeting in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting was chaired by Sheikh
Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of the FGCCC, Chairman of
the Board of Directors of Qatar Chamber.
The delegation of Oman Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (OCCI) was led by Rashid bin Amer Al Maslahi, First Deputy
Chairman of the OCCI Board of Directors.The discussions covered a number of
areas, including ways to enhance economic and commercial cooperation among GCC
states, the role of the private sector in developing intra-GCC trade and means
of achieving GCC economic integration.
During the meeting, the FGCCC Board
reviewed periodic reports on steps to implement past decisions. It also took decisions on supporting joint investment and real estate projects in a manner that secures the the augmentation of financial returns and the application of appropriate policies.
The FGCCC Board also looked into administrative
and financial reports and reviewed the Federation’s future plans and draft annual
budgets.
The meeting laid emphasis on the
importance of establishing long-term strategic approaches to joint events. It also
discussed proposals to enhance joint working mechanisms and incorporate
initiatives aimed to safeguard the interests of the Gulf business sector, in addition
to coordinating preparations for upcoming events and meetings with the GCC Secretariat
General.
