Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) — Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry said King
Abdullah II’s visit to Malaysia, which began Sunday at the invitation
of Malaysian King Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Sultan Iskandar, comes as the
two countries mark more than six decades of diplomatic relations,
established in 1965.
The ministry, in a statement, said it is the King’s second visit to
Malaysia, after his first trip in May 2008.
The ministry highlighted education as a pillar of ties, as 1,636
Malaysian students are currently enrolled in Jordanian higher
education institutions and more than 1,490 Jordanian students study
in Malaysian institutions.
It added that Jordan and Malaysia “share a commitment to peace,
justice and lasting stability in West Asia, particularly support for
the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
On trade, the ministry detailed that trade reached 993.4 million
ringgit in 2025, up 15.2 percent from 2024. Trade grew a further 8
percent to 740.7 million ringgit from January to August, compared
with the same period of 2025.
The ministry said both countries continue efforts to expand
educational exchange, academic cooperation and collaboration in
higher education and scientific research.
