ESARSV to launch blood bank for military retirees

Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) –The Economic and Social Association of
Retired Servicemen and Veterans (ESARSV) has begun technical and
preparatory procedures to establish a blood bank for military
retirees, in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF)– Arab
Army General Command and the Jordanian Royal Medical Services (JRMS).

The bank aims to build a reserve stock of blood to meet retirees’
emergency needs and ensure units are “available quickly” for use at
JRMS’s hospitals.

In a statement, ESARSV Director General Maj. Gen. Adnan Raqqad, said
the initiative is part of the association’s effort to develop
services for its members, in partnership with relevant national
bodies.

Raqqad noted that the project will be implemented in phases, starting
with blood donation campaigns at the blood bank of the Princess Iman
Center for Research and Laboratory at King Hussein Medical City,
adding that retirees will benefit under mechanisms to be set.

He stated the initiative will later expand to JRMS’s hospitals across
the governorates, in coordination with competent authorities.

Raqqad said the ESARSV will announce the start date of the campaigns,
and the mechanisms to participate and benefit, once the technical
procedures and arrangements are complete.
