Kuala Lumpur, October 12 (QNA) – King Abdullah II of Jordan said Monday that allowing the grave escalation to drag on is a non-starter, adding that Jordan looks forward to working with Malaysia to address challenges unfolding in the region and strengthen regional peace and security.
Following his meeting with Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim bin Sultan Iskandar at the National Palace in Kuala Lumpur, King Abdullah stressed the importance of halting Israel’s dangerous attacks in the region, including its actions in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
Attempts to alter the historic and legal status quo at holy sites must stop, King Abdullah said, while noting the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The Jordanian monarch recalled the common ground shared by Jordan and Malaysia regarding the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution as the sole off-ramp for conflict resolution.
He called for global action to stop Israel’s dangerous course in the region and prevent the conflict from spilling over on an even wider scale, reemphasizing the importance of respecting nations’ sovereignty and the security of their peoples.
For his part, Malaysia’s king noted the depth of relations between the two nations, as well as opportunities to boost bilateral cooperation, particularly in the military domain.
He also recalled the rock-solid bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Jordan, along with their role in preserving the Islamic legacy. (QNA)
