Amman, July 26 (Petra) – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, in the presence of HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KBW Investments, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Huneiti on Saturday witnessed the signing of two investment agreements in the health sector.

The first was inked between the government and the company to establish the new Madaba Government Hospital, and the second for digital transformation in hospitals of the Royal Medical Services (RMS) Directorate between the Armed Forces and Farah Jordan Smart Cities Company, affiliated with the Armed Forces.

The Madaba Government Hospital agreement between the government and KBW was signed by Minister of Investment Muthanna Gharaibeh, Minister of Health Firas Hawari and KBW CEO Ahmad Sallakh.

The digital transformation services agreement for RMS hospitals between the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army and Farah Jordan Smart Cities Company, in which KBW Investment owns a 49 percent stake, was inked by Brigadier General Ammar Sarayrah, Assistant Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Planning, Organization, and Defense Resources, and Ahmad Sallakh, CEO of KBW.

The agreements are the first new foreign investment in a vital sector, with an investment volume of up to JD133 million, a step toward future projects in other vital sectors such as transport, roads, hospitals, and others.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the public-private partnership in improving the health situation in the Kingdom, welcoming further KBW investments in Jordan. He also hailed KBW for its support in the area of social responsibility in Jordan, particularly in the education and health sectors.

“This is the first government hospital built in partnership with the private sector after a delay of about 10 years. It is absolutely essential for the people of Madaba Governorate,” he said.

The Prime Minister said the hospital, which will be fully government-run, will have about 260 beds, expandable to 360, where the public can benefit from its comprehensive services in three years.

For his part, Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed stressed his company’s willingness to invest in Jordan, “which is our second home”, adding that KBW has been investing in the Kingdom for over 10 years, and is keen to expand its capital across multiple sectors.

The two projects are within the economic modernization vision’s areas of focus, quality of life, attracting foreign investment, and advancing the digitization of the public sector.

The new Madaba Hospital is one of the key projects included in the Jordan Investment Fund Law and is being implemented by KBW Investment and Infrastructure, the first partnership of its kind between the government and the private sector in this domain.

The hospital will be built according to highest technical standards, contributing to the development of healthcare in Madaba Governorate and the surrounding areas.

The hospital building consists of 13 floors with a total area of 54,000 square meters, and includes a variety of medical specialties.

It includes eight main operating rooms, 60 outpatient clinics, and 18 dialysis units, in addition to emergency departments, lithotripsy and endoscopy units, intensive care units, medical laboratories, catheterization laboratories, and 830 parking spaces, among others.

Construction of the hospital will begin this year in a partnership that will cut the previously planned seven-year construction period to three years.

The company’s role is limited to construction, while the Ministry of Health will manage the hospital and provide it with the necessary staff, equipment, and devices, according to the highest specifications. The government will start payments to the company after completion, over a period of 10 years.

Prime Minister Hassan greenlighted the construction of the hospital during a cabinet session held in Madaba in March.

The digital transformation agreement aims to improve digital services in RMS hospitals, health centers, warehouses, and any affiliated facilities.

It aims to govern the management of drug inventory and reduce waste, as well as develop the management of medical supplies and assets (hospitals, clinics, and medical centers) and reduce waste in laboratories and radiology.
