Amman, May 15 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing, Maher Abu Samen, affirmed the government’s “commitment” to providing support to the Palestinian people, which comes under the direct guidance and close follow-up of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
During his meeting on Thursday with Head of the Palestinian Contractors Union (PCU), Dr. Ahmad Qadi, Abu Samen noted Jordan will maintain “key” support for the Palestinian cause in all forums.
The minister also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation of the ministry and the two countries’ contractor sector to achieve “tangible” progress in this field.
Meanwhile, Qadi praised Jordan’s “supportive” role for Palestine, describing Jordan as Palestine’s “vital artery and closest strategic partner.”
Qadi emphasized PCU’s “openness” to enhancing economic cooperation and building “successful” partnerships between Jordanian and Palestinian companies, reflecting the “deep historic” bilateral relations.
Qadi also expressed hope to enhance cooperation in the contracting and construction sector, which is an “important” economic pillar for both countries.
Noting need to address common challenges, he referred to financing difficulties, market fluctuations, and the political and economic restrictions imposed on the Palestinian people.
On the political front, he praised Jordan’s “firm” position in rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians, or seek alternative settlement, emphasizing the Palestinian people’s adherence to their land and national rights.
