Doha, July 05 (QNA) – Al Sadd announced on Sunday the appointment of Romanian coach Razvan Lucescu as head coach of the club’s first football team on a two-year contract through 2028.
In a statement on its official website, the club said Lucescu’s appointment is part of its strategy to build on recent success and strengthen the team’s position at both the domestic and continental levels, in line with the ambitions of the club and its supporters.
The club said Lucescu’s coaching staff will include three assistant coaches, fitness coaches, a goalkeeping coach and a performance analyst.
Lucescu succeeds Italian coach Roberto Mancini, who left the club in June after leading Al Sadd to the Qatari league title last season.
The Romanian previously managed El Jaish during the 2012-13 season, guiding the Qatari club to the Round of 16 in its first appearance in the AFC Champions League.
He later coached Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti and Greek clubs Xanthi and PAOK before taking charge of Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal from 2019 to 2021. (QNA)
