Saudi Arabia’s Voluntary Carbon Market Fuels the Shift to a Low-Carbon
KHARTOUM (SUNA) – Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri has called for innovation in developing livestock and food products capable of competing in global markets, urging greater use of Sudan’s resources and potential to boost national exports. Addressing a celebration of World Food Day organized on Sunday by the Faculty of Family Sciences and Community Development and the Faculty of Agricultural Production and Processing Technology at the International University of Africa, under the theme “Today’s Innovation for Tomorrow’s Food,” Al-Mansouri said economic challenges, rising transportation and insurance costs, and higher fuel prices in global markets made it necessary to expand innovation and production. The minister pointed to the opportunities Sudan offers for exporting products at competitive prices that other countries would find difficult to match. He called for innovation in developing products that could compete in international markets, particularly products not currently available in those markets, noting the existence of substantial demand and an eager market. Al-Mansouri also urged the International University of Africa to contribute to establishing a livestock production city and to prioritize quality and follow-up. The minister further noted that agreements had been reached with the Agricultural Bank, Al-Balad Bank, and Omdurman National Bank to provide services to academic staff and employees in support of teaching and community service.BH/BH
