Amman, June 2 (Petra) — Audit Bureau President Radi Hamadin stressed
the need to strengthen supreme audit institutions’ role in protecting
public funds and supporting fiscal sustainability through improved
oversight tools, audit efficiency, and modern technology.

Hamadin made the remarks at the Forum on Restoring Public Finances,
held at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
(OECD) headquarters in Paris, with senior officials, audit bodies,
and international governance and public finance experts attending.

He said the forum comes amid growing global fiscal challenges,
including rising public debt, mounting pressure on government
budgets, and the need for more sustainable and efficient fiscal
policies.

The forum discussed fiscal sustainability, public spending
efficiency, government resource management, and public awareness of
fiscal challenges and required reforms.

Hamadin said key recommendations included strengthening budget units,
activating medium-term budget frameworks, using spending reviews to
reprioritize expenditure, achieve savings, and direct resources
toward higher-impact programs.

On the sidelines, Hamadin attended the annual meeting of heads of
supreme audit institutions, which discussed audit priorities amid
fiscal, economic, and technological shifts, as well as the role of
audit bodies in supporting public finance reform, improving
government performance oversight, and enhancing accountability.

He also met OECD partners to discuss projects implemented in Jordan
to develop audit work and benefit from international best practices
in governance and oversight.
