Amman, June 23 (Petra) – The Ministry of Water and Irrigation
uncovered on Tuesday multiple cases of illegal water extraction and
network tampering across the Kingdom.

Authorities detected illegal water lines connected to main pipelines
used to supply farms, greenhouses, homes, water tankers, and
commercial car-wash facilities, according to the ministry.

Operations along the Desert Highway, Al-Hasa, Al-Jafr, and Naour
south of Amman, were carried out in cooperation with the Water
Authority of Jordan’s (WAJ) Internal Control Unit, Public Security
Directorate (PSD), Miyahuna, Aqaba Water Company, and the Water Basin
and Central Workshops Directorates.

Inspection teams in Al-Hasa found unauthorized water supply lines
feeding two car-wash stations, two pumps, and multiple storage tanks.

In Al-Jafr, authorities confiscated an unlicensed drilling rig that
was excavating an illegal groundwater well. The well was immediately
backfilled.

In Naour, three illegal taps on major water transmission lines were
found supplying two farms and 10 greenhouses.

Follow-up operations in Naour also revealed additional unauthorized
connections serving homes and agricultural properties, all of which
were dismantled.

The operations serve a nationwide campaign to tighten control over
water resources, protect infrastructure, and curb illegal withdrawals
that threaten supplies, the ministry said.
