Manama, April 12 (QNA) – Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior announced on Sunday that preemptive and preventive measures have been implemented in preparation for resuming the second phase of technical remediation and repair work at the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) facility, which was damaged in an Iranian attack.
The Ministry said the measures particularly address risks related to a potential ammonia gas leak, as part of efforts to ensure public safety during the repair process.
In a press briefing, authorities confirmed the establishment of a two-kilometer safety perimeter covering nearby institutions, facilities, and part of residential block 619. Residents within the affected area have been advised to evacuate voluntarily and have been provided with temporary alternative accommodation as a precautionary step.
The Ministry also highlighted public safety guidelines available on the National Civil Protection Platform. These include remaining indoors in a secure room, keeping windows and doors closed, turning off ventilation systems, and placing wet towels under doors and windows to help prevent contaminated air from entering.
