Beijing, July 31, 2026 (SUNA) – The International Exchange Committee of the China Association of Trade in Services (CATIS), in cooperation with Qixing International Investment and Service Company and the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan to the People’s Republic of China, organized the Sudan-China Trade and Investment Forum in Beijing on Friday, with broad participation from representatives of government institutions, companies, and business leaders from Sudan and China. Omar Issa Ahmed, Sudan’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, attended the opening of the forum and stated that the event reflects the depth of Sudanese-Chinese relations, founded on a long-standing friendship and a well-established strategic partnership. He noted that the two countries marked the tenth anniversary of their strategic partnership in 2025, which has contributed to qualitative progress in political, economic, commercial, and cultural cooperation. The Ambassador said China has remained Sudan’s largest economic and trading partner, with Chinese companies implementing numerous strategic projects in the fields of oil, energy, mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and telecommunications. He noted that Sudan is now entering a new phase of economic recovery, reconstruction, and rebuilding, creating promising investment opportunities for Chinese companies in infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, industry, and logistics. He added that the Sudanese government attaches great importance to improving the investment environment by developing legislative and institutional frameworks and providing incentives and facilitation for investors. He called on Chinese companies to expand their investments and establish long-term strategic partnerships that would promote technology transfer, indigenization of industries, and mutual benefit for both countries. The Ambassador also praised the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and welcomed the Chinese government’s decision to grant full tariff exemptions on imports from the least developed African countries. He said the initiative opens new opportunities for Sudanese exports to the Chinese market, enhances bilateral trade, and supports shared development. For their part, representatives of the International Exchange Committee of the China Association of Trade in Services and Qixing International Investment and Service Company said the forum was organized to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between Sudan and China and to provide an institutional platform bringing together companies and business leaders from both countries to explore opportunities for cooperation and partnership. They affirmed the interest of Chinese companies in participating in Sudan’s reconstruction and development projects and in taking advantage of the country’s investment opportunities across various sectors. The forum featured presentations by the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan highlighting investment opportunities in the mining, agriculture, and energy sectors, showcasing Sudan’s economic potential. A representative of the Khartoum Refinery Company’s Beijing Office also delivered a presentation on investment opportunities in the oil and gas sector and related infrastructure projects. The forum concluded with business-to-business meetings between Sudanese and Chinese companies to discuss investment and partnership opportunities, with the aim of transforming available opportunities into practical projects that support reconstruction and economic development while strengthening the strategic partnership between the Republic of Sudan and the People’s Republic of China.BH/BH
