Amman, Jan. 7 (Petra) – Central Amman Civil Defense personnel successfully responded in record time to save the life of a man who fell unconscious while working in his taxi, parked in an unknown location.
Details of the Incident
Captain Talal Shoubaki, an officer at the Central Amman Operations Room, reported that a woman had called to inform the department about her husband, who has diabetes, losing consciousness during their conversation via Messenger.
The wife suspected her husband was in the vicinity of Abu Nseir on Jordan Street (northern Amman). Immediately, the Civil Defense teams launched a search operation. One ambulance was dispatched to the mentioned location, while another was sent to search a different potential area near the Fourth Circle.
Despite time constraints and concerns for the man’s life, the on-duty operations officer displayed professionalism and patience. He calmed the distressed wife over the phone, asking her questions to identify landmarks or businesses she might have seen during her last conversation with her husband.
Using his quick thinking and extensive experience, the officer was able to pinpoint the location of the man’s vehicle, which was found on Jordan Street in the Wadi Al-Haddadah area.
Swift Rescue Operation
The Civil Defense team reached the location within seven minutes. Upon arrival, they found the man in a diabetic coma with dangerously low blood sugar levels. He also suffered from partial airway obstruction caused by food lodged in his throat, leading to a drop in vital signs. First aid was administered on-site, and the man received continuous care while being transported to the nearest hospital.
Captain Shoubaki noted the challenges encountered in locating the patient, given the remote and isolated nature of the area. Throughout the operation, the team remained in constant contact with the wife, keeping her calm and ensuring she provided accurate information.
Gratitude from the Patient
The patient, who has diabetes, expressed his gratitude to the Civil Defense personnel for their professionalism and quick actions that saved his life. He also appreciated the follow-up call they made after he was discharged from the hospital to check on his well-being.
