Crown Prince Attends Jordan’s Historic World Cup Opener Against Austria

Amman, June 17 (Petra) — His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein
bin Abdullah II attended Jordan’s opening match against Austria at
the FIFA World Cup 2026 on Wednesday, supporting the national team in
its historic debut at the global tournament.

Joining the Crown Prince at the match were Her Royal Highness
Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin
Abdullah II, Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II, His
Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan
Football Association and the West Asian Football Federation, as well
as a number of Their Royal Highnesses princes and princesses.

Jordan lost the Group J encounter to Austria but delivered a spirited
performance throughout the match, displaying disciplined defensive
and attacking play that earned widespread praise from observers.

The national team maintained its tactical organization across both
halves as it competed in its first-ever FIFA World Cup match
following its historic qualification for the 2026 tournament.

Jordan will return to action on June 23, when they face Algeria in
the second round of Group J, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 a.m.
