Amman, June 15 (Petra) — The Eastern Military Zone foiled an attempt
to smuggle narcotics into the Kingdom early Monday after security
forces intercepted a shipment carried by electronically guided
balloons.
According to a military source, Border Guard units detected the
balloons while monitoring the zone’s area of responsibility and
immediately initiated procedures to intercept the attempted smuggling
operation.
The source said the balloons and their payload were successfully
brought down inside Jordanian territory in coordination with security
agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized materials were subsequently transferred to the relevant
authorities to complete the necessary legal and investigative
procedures.
