Amman, June 15 (Petra) — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources on Monday launched a series of awareness workshops for
employees of the Ministry of Youth aimed at promoting energy
efficiency concepts, encouraging rational energy consumption and
strengthening institutional capacity in the field.
The workshops are being implemented in coordination with the Ministry
of Youth and the German Energy Academy in Jordan, with support from
the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
In a statement, Director of the Energy Efficiency and Climate Change
Directorate at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Lina
Mubaideen said the workshops are part of national efforts to raise
awareness of energy efficiency practices and promote responsible
energy consumption across government institutions.
She said the initiative aligns with the objectives of the National
Energy Strategy and government plans to enhance resource efficiency
and reduce operational costs.
Mubaideen added that the National Capacity Building Program in Energy
Efficiency seeks to drive sustainable improvements in energy
consumption patterns within government workplaces by promoting
behavioral and technical best practices that contribute to measurable
energy savings and greater sustainability.
Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth Yassin Halil
highlighted the importance of the workshops in enhancing employees’
awareness of optimal energy-use practices, noting that energy
conservation and efficiency are key components of public-sector
efforts to reduce operating expenditures and improve resource
management.
Meanwhile, Director of External Relations and Communications at the
German Energy Academy in Jordan Maha Hayari stressed the importance
of cooperation between national institutions and international
partners in implementing specialized training and capacity-building
programs.
She said the academy provides educational and training platforms that
support knowledge transfer, skills development and the dissemination
of international best practices in energy efficiency and energy
transition.
Hayari added that such programs help strengthen the capabilities of
public-sector employees and support the adoption of sustainable
energy management solutions, contributing to national efforts to
improve energy efficiency and advance the Sustainable Development
Goals.
Project Manager and Training Director at the German Energy Academy in
Jordan, affiliated with the German Jordanian University, Ayman
Batayneh, said training and awareness initiatives are effective tools
for enhancing human resource capabilities in energy management and
efficiency, positively impacting institutional performance and
resource sustainability.
The workshops, scheduled for June 15 and 17 at the Ministry of Youth,
feature interactive sessions on energy efficiency concepts and best
practices in government buildings, along with practical behavioral
and technical measures aimed at reducing energy consumption and
achieving sustainable savings.
