Amman, June 10 (Petra) — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral
Resources, in cooperation with the European Union (EU), held a
closing workshop on Wednesday to discuss the findings of a study on
“Options for Using Electric Vehicles for Power System Applications in
Jordan,” under the EU-funded Technical Assistance to the EU Support
to Green Economy in Jordan project.

Participants highlighted the importance of using electric vehicles
and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technologies as innovative solutions to
enhance grid flexibility, improve the use of renewable energy, and
support Jordan’s energy transition goals, the ministry said in a
statement.

They reviewed key findings and global experiences in using electric
vehicles as energy storage systems, as well as technical and
regulatory opportunities and challenges related to applying these
technologies in Jordan. They recommended implementing pilot projects
and developing the regulatory frameworks needed to enable future
deployment.

Director of the Energy Transition Directorate Yacoub Mrar stressed
the importance of supporting projects that help increase the share of
renewable energy in the national energy mix. He said energy storage
technologies using electric vehicles offer a promising opportunity to
improve the efficiency of the power system.

EU Delegation to Jordan representative Omar Abu Eid said such
projects introduce new concepts that support the transition toward
green energy and offer promising solutions to strengthen the
efficiency and sustainability of the electricity system.
