EU renews call for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon, respect ceasefire agreement

Amman, June 9 (Petra) — The European Union on Tuesday renewed its
call for Israel to withdraw its forces from Lebanese territory and to
fully respect the brokered ceasefire agreement with Lebanon,
following a new wave of shelling on the city of Tyre.

The European Commission Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs, Anwar El
Anouni, stated that “the EU’s position remains perfectly clear.”

He emphasized that “the U.S.-mediated ceasefire agreement between
Lebanon and Israel represents a new window of opportunity to end the
conflict, and we trust that Israel will engage with it.”
