Vilnius, June 02 (QNA) European Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius called for Ukraine’s integration into the European Defence Union during the period leading up to its formal accession to the European Union.
Speaking at a meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Vilnius, Lithuania, Kubilius said that integrating Ukraine into the European Defence Union is “a vital interest”.
While Ukraine’s accession to NATO has not yet been agreed upon, and while its accession to the European Union may take longer, national parliaments should push for Ukraine’s inclusion in the European Defence Union, with a European Security Council at its helm, and with Ukraine’s participation in it, Kubilius added.
