Amman, June 24 (Petra) — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister
Ayman Safadi on Wednesday stressed the key role of the United Nations
Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East
(UNRWA), urging the need to provide the necessary support to enable
the organization to continue its duties under its UN mandate.
In a meeting held at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters with Acting
UNRWA Commissioner-General ad interim Christian Saunders, the two
sides discussed efforts to support and enable UNRWA to continue
providing vital services to Palestinian refugees in its five areas of
operations.
Safadi reiterated importance of the UNRWA’s role, which he said
remains “indispensable in providing essential services to refugees.”
