Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Meets Acting UN Undersecretary-General for Office of LDCS High Representative

New York, (SUNA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Muawiya Othman Khalid, met Thursday on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly with Ronald Moulieris, Acting Undersecretary-General of the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States. Khalid affirmed Sudan’s commitment to working to advance the development interests of the least developed countries, in his capacity as Vice-Chair of the group. He reviewed the country’s efforts in economic recovery, digital transformation, and agricultural sector development. The meeting discussed ways to benefit from the outcomes of the Doha Programme of Action, particularly with regard to building resilience, the food security mechanism, and sustainable graduation from the least developed country category. At the conclusion of the meeting, Khalid affirmed Sudan’s full engagement in the preparatory activities for the midterm review of the Doha Programme of Action, scheduled to be held next March, and its readiness to contribute to strengthening the partnership between the Office and the sisterly State of Qatar.BH/BH
