Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Meets UNDP Assistant Secretary-General for Arab States

New York, (SUNA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Muawiya Othman Khalid met, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, with Abdullah Al-Dardari, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States. The Undersecretary affirmed Sudan’s keenness to strengthen relations with the UNDP, as the country’s largest development partner, and expressed appreciation for its contributions to the health, clean energy, water, and agricultural production sectors. He also discussed ways to benefit from development financing funds, contribute to the preparation of a strategic recovery plan, and conduct a comprehensive assessment of the energy sector and develop a comprehensive roadmap for its recovery. The meeting concluded with an affirmation of continued cooperation and coordination among the various UN mechanisms and programmes, as well as a welcome for Abdullah Al-Dardari’s visit to Sudan in early February.BH/BH
