Petra, May 12 (Petra) – Spanish football legends and former Real Madrid stars Iker Casillas and Michel Salgado visited the ancient city of Petra on Monday as part of a tour of Jordan.
They were received by Fares Breizat, Chief Commissioner of the Petra Tourism Development Region Authority (PDTRA), who welcomed the guests and briefed them on Petra’s historical, archaeological, and touristic significance. Breizat also highlighted ongoing efforts to preserve the city’s cultural legacy and promote it globally, presenting the guests with commemorative gifts from the Rose-Red City.
During the visit, Casillas expressed awe at Petra’s grandeur, stating he had not imagined it to be so majestic and beautiful, describing it as a unique site that showcases the ingenuity and rich heritage of the Nabataean Arabs.
Salgado echoed the sentiment, saying Petra is not only one of the world’s greatest historical landmarks but also a reflection of Jordan’s authentic hospitality. He praised the organization of the visit and the warm welcome.
The visit aligns with the PDTRA’s strategy to attract influential figures from various fields to help promote Petra on the global stage.
