France considers additional sanctions on Israeli settlers

Amman, June 7 (Petra) – French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said
that France may impose additional sanctions on Israeli settlers in
the coming days in response to the expansion of settlement activity
in the West Bank and increasing violence against Palestinians.

Speaking in an interview with Public Sénat television and RTL radio
on Sunday, Barrot said that “more stringent sanctions could be
imposed in the coming days,” expressing deep concern over what he
described as the escalation of illegal settlement construction in the
occupied West Bank and the growing violence committed by Israeli
settlers against Palestinians.

Barrot added that he is advocating sanctions not only against
individuals responsible for acts of violence but against entities,
companies and organisations in Israel that he said support extremist
settlers.

“The measures should target those who provide extremist settlers with
the means to expel Palestinians from their land, burn crops and
destroy public property,” he said.
