Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) – The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) declared
a low-level state of emergency on Monday, which will upgrade to a
medium-level status on Tuesday morning with an expected wet weather
across the capital.
GAM confirmed that emergency crews stood ready to respond to public
reports received at the Tla’ Al-Ali control center. Officials urged
residents to call the unified call center numbers (102 or 117180) to
report weather-related issues.
City officials advised caution and to avoid low-lying areas and
flood-prone valleys.
To prevent road flooding, GAM urged property owners not to connect
rooftop drainage pipes to municipal sewer lines, and reminded the
public to dispose of litter properly to keep storm drains clear.
The municipality also instructed merchants and property owners to
inspect submersible pumps below street level, secure basement
inventory, and safeguard construction site materials to prevent
runoff from clogging drainage lines.
