Gold Declines on Stronger DollarSingapore, 20 Aug (ONA) —Gold prices hit their lower level in nearly three weeks today as the dollar firmed, while investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s symposium later this week for clues on the path for monetary policy.
Spot gold was down 0.1% at $3,313.51 per ounce, after reaching its lowest level since August 1.
US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.1% to $3,355.50.
The US dollar index climbed to its highest level in more than a week, making gold less affordable for buyers using other currencies.
Spot silver fell 0.3% to $37.26 per ounce, platinum gained 0.2% to $1,308.90, and palladium was down 0.7% to $1,106.83. — Ends/AH
