Zarqa, Jan. 21 (Petra) – The Hashemite University (HU), the Scientific Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders (SCADD), a delegation from Iraq’s Ministry of Health, and the National Autism Center at the Child Protection Hospital in Iraq discussed avenues for joint collaboration, exchange of expertise, and consultations in the fields of special education, occupational and physical therapy, as well as medical and educational diagnosis for children with autism and developmental disorders.

During a meeting with SCADD President Mohammed Abu Dalhoum, HU Vice President, Khaled Abu El-Teen, emphasized the university’s commitment to fostering collaboration with community institutions and centers dedicated to special education, particularly in the field of autism, as well as centers specializing in physical and occupational therapy.

Abu Dalhoum expressed SCADD’s eagerness to expand its cooperation with leading universities and educational institutions, especially the Hashemite University, which offers specialized academic programs in autism studies. He highlighted the benefits of leveraging the scientific and practical expertise of both sides and praised the university’s academic excellence at the local, regional, and international levels. He expressed hope for future collaborations to develop training and academic programs.

The Iraqi delegation visited the HU’s Queen Rania Faculty for Childhood, where they observed the university’s inclusive kindergarten and model nursery, as well as the physical and occupational therapy labs and the Community Rehabilitation Center for Disability Cases in the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dr. Amin Eleimat; the Vice Dean of the Queen Rania Faculty for Childhood, Ghaleb Hiyari; heads of relevant departments; and faculty members, alongside members of the Iraqi delegation.
