Heatwave in France leaves 68,000 homes without power

Amman, June 24 (Petra) – French authorities announced on Wednesday
that the record-breaking heatwave sweeping across the country has
left around 68,000 homes without electricity in the Finistère region,
after a transformer on the national power transmission network failed
due to extreme temperatures.

The Finistère prefecture said the outage occurred on Tuesday evening
near the town of Quimper, adding that no injuries were reported.
Electricity crews are continuing efforts to restore power gradually
to affected households.

French Energy Minister Maud Brégeon, quoted by France 24, expressed
support for residents impacted by the outage, stressing that priority
is being given to assisting the most vulnerable groups and restoring
electricity as quickly as possible.
