5 May (ONA) — HH Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for
International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Special Representative of His
Majesty the Sultan, today presided over the opening of the conference of the
“Energy Regulators Regional Association” (ERRA), held at Oman Convention and
Exhibition Centre.The
two-day conference will elaborate on global transformations and mechanisms for
investing in clean energy.

The conference programme includes the discussion of 15 working papers during specialized sessions.The first day included four sessions. The first session dealt with norms of energy transition in GCC states and the second session discussed the integration of electricity networks.The third session reviewed mechanisms for developing regional energy trade, market integration and cross-border legislation, while the fourth session focused on the structure of the energy market transition and ways to accelerate its growth.On the sidelines of the conference, technical and bilateral meetings were held by representatives of regulatory bodies, international organizations and private sector establishments. The meetings discussed various aspects of developing institutional frameworks, enhancing technical cooperation, exchanging databases and regulations and exploring green financing models and regional partnerships in new energy projects.

The conference is being attended by about 280 experts representing 50 regulatory bodies, policymakers, private sector establishments and academics.The event reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s position on the global energy map and underscores the growing international confidence in Oman’s regulatory and legislative capabilities and the country’s pioneering role in leading dialogues on sustainable energy use and energy transition.— Ends/Bishara/AG
