Amman, Oct. 5 (Petra) — Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament
Mazen Qadi affirmed Jordan’s firm support, under His Majesty King
Abdullah II, for Yemeni legitimacy and for Yemen’s unity,
sovereignty, independence, security and stability.
Qadi spoke Monday at the Lower House of Parliament during a meeting
with Yemeni Foreign and Expatriates Minister Afrah Zouba and Yemeni
Ambassador to Jordan Jalal Faqira.
Qadi said the Yemeni issue requires an Arab position that protects
Yemen and ends the conflict. He voiced solidarity with Yemeni
legitimacy in facing attacks by the Houthi militia. He said a
comprehensive political solution is needed to restore the state and
its institutions.
He warned that continued foreign interference worsens instability and
affects the future of Yemen and the Arab region. He stressed that
Arab states must deal with their challenges collectively.
For her part, Zouba expressed her country’s deep appreciation for
Jordan’s support under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah
II. She praised his role in defending Arab causes in international
forums, saying his recent address to the UN General Assembly drew
wide attention and appreciation.
She said Jordanian-Yemeni relations extend beyond politics to
development, the economy, dialogue and cooperation. She said
rebuilding the state and its institutions after the Houthi group took
control of them will need major efforts and Arab and international
support.
