Industry and Trade Ministry ticketed 4,008 establishments last year

Amman, Jan. 5 (Petra) – The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply issued 4,008 violations last year 2024, within 5,250 inspection tours on 85,790 establishments across the Kingdom’s governorates.

According to data obtained by “Petra”, Market and Supply Control Directorate in Amman issued 1,767 tickets, representing 44% of the total violations.

The data showed 1,415 Amman-headquartered establishments were fined for failing to announce prices, 220 others for non-compliance with the specified price, 59 for absence of the announced price, and 46 for failing to apply the discounts instructions.

Also in Amman, 19 businesses were ticketed for violating instructions for bakery establishment, 7 others for refraining from selling a basic material, and 1 for abstaining from providing the buyer with purchase invoices.

In other regions, the data showed that 2, 241 entities were fined, including 1,926 violations for failing to announce prices, 195 for non-compliance with the specified price, and 38 for non-adherence to the announced price.

Additionally, 33 establishments were fined for non-compliance with the discounts instructions, 24 for failing to apply instructions for bakery establishment, 4 for trading in subsidized livestock fooder materials, 11 for refusing to sell basic items and 10 for obstructing employees from performing their official duties.

In remarks to “Petra,” the ministry’s media spokesperson, Yanal Barmawi, the majority of commercial establishments are committed to the provisions of the Industry, Trade and Supply Law, noting that the violations are “few,” compared to the number of businesses that complied with the relevant regulations in force countrywide.
