Amman, June 5 (Petra)– Minister of Investment Tareq Abu Ghazaleh
held a series of economic meetings with business and commercial
leaders in London as part of Jordan’s ongoing efforts to promote
investment opportunities, strengthen economic partnerships, and
attract high-quality investments to the Kingdom.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Investment on
Friday, Abu Ghazaleh participated in a round table discussion hosted
by the British Expertise International (BEI) and The D Group as part
of the Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) activities. The event was
attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Manar Dabbas,
and brought together prominent business leaders from the
infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, and logistics sectors.
Participants discussed opportunities to enhance investment
partnerships between the private sectors of Jordan and the United
Kingdom, particularly in development projects, while highlighting
Jordan’s strategic location as a gateway to regional markets.
Abu Ghazaleh emphasized the deep strategic ties between Jordan and
the United Kingdom and the growing cooperation between the two
countries across economic and investment fields. He highlighted the
Kingdom’s promising investment opportunities in several key sectors,
supported by a competitive business environment and modern economic
legislation designed to facilitate investment procedures.
He noted that such meetings provide an important platform for direct
engagement with business leaders, investors, and international
economic institutions, while showcasing Jordan’s investment potential
in high-growth sectors. He added that attracting quality investments
would contribute to economic growth and create employment
opportunities for Jordanians.
For his part, Ambassador Dabbas stressed the importance of building
on the strong Jordanian-British relationship to further enhance
economic and investment cooperation. He reaffirmed Jordan’s
commitment to expanding partnerships with the British business
community and attracting more investments to the Kingdom.
David Landsman, Chief Executive Officer of British Expertise
International and Advisory Director of The D Group, said both
organizations work with an extensive network of experts and
consultants in climate, energy, education, space, infrastructure, and
logistics. He described the meeting as a valuable opportunity to
explore new avenues of cooperation between the private sectors of
Jordan and the United Kingdom, expressing confidence that the
discussions would lead to productive partnerships and joint
initiatives.
Meanwhile, British Ambassador to Jordan Philip Hall said Jordan
serves as a gateway to Middle East and North African markets,
benefiting from a broad network of free trade agreements with the
United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, Canada, and
Arab countries. He highlighted Jordan’s favorable investment climate,
advanced infrastructure and communications networks, and highly
qualified workforce, encouraging British companies to give greater
consideration to investment opportunities in the Kingdom.
As part of his visit, Abu Ghazaleh also met with the UK’s Trade Envoy
to Jordan, Kuwait and Palestine, Lord Ian McNicol, as well as
officials from the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce in London.
Discussions focused on strengthening economic and trade cooperation,
promoting Jordan’s investment opportunities, and exploring new
partnerships between the business communities of both countries.
The meetings form part of the Ministry of Investment’s broader
efforts to promote investment opportunities in Jordan, strengthen
engagement with major international economic institutions and
business communities, and reinforce the Kingdom’s position as an
attractive destination for quality investments that support economic
growth, sustainable development, and job creation.
