Ramallah, May 15 (Petra) – The Palestinian Prisoners Society reported on Thursday that approximately 17,000 arrests have been carried out in the West Bank since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, alongside thousands more in Gaza, amid what it described as an unprecedented escalation in Israeli policies targeting Palestinians.

The statement, issued on the 77th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, emphasized that arbitrary arrests and ongoing violations have long been central to the Israeli occupation’s practices, reaching their most severe phase during the current period. The club stated that 66 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli custody since the beginning of the aggression.

It further noted that Palestinian detainees are subjected to systematic torture, starvation, and deprivation, describing these conditions as part of broader policies of oppression.

According to the statement, more than 10,100 Palestinians are currently imprisoned in Israel, including 37 women, over 400 children, and 3,577 administrative detainees held without formal charges or trials.
