Tokyo, August 24 (QNA) – Japan’s Nikkei share average fell on Monday as artificial intelligence-related stocks came under pressure ahead of Nvidia’s earnings report later this week.
The Nikkei closed down 0.7% at 65,528.09 points.
Most AI-related stocks declined, with Fujikura falling 5%, Advantest dropping 3.9% and SoftBank Group losing 5.3%. Tokyo Electron, however, rose 1.6%.
The broader Topix index gained 0.2%.
The sell-off extended to AI-related stocks across other Asian markets. South Korea’s Samsung Electronics fell 9%, dragging the KOSPI down 3.1%, while China’s Alibaba dropped about 10.5%. (QNA)
