Ajloun, Jan. 21 (Petra) – Chairman of Jordan Free and Development Zones Group (JFDZ), Sakher Ajlouni, said the group, in cooperation with its partners, seeks to make Ajloun a “major” tourist destination locally and globally, in line with the Royal visions to develop the northern governorate and provide job opportunities to reduce poverty and unemployment.
In a statement Tuesday, he said the JFDZ is scheduled to launch Ajloun National Park project this year, which would link the city’s ancient castle with Ajloun Cable Car.
Ajlouni added that the project would contribute to increasing the number of visitors to Ajloun Teleferique to 1 million and provide a “suitable” environment for family and environmental trips.
The park, he noted, will feature forested picnic areas with the necessary services of parking lots and venues of popular restaurants.
Referring to the target development area of about 700 dunums, he stated 22 different projects will be implemented to extend the duration of the visitor’s stay and achieve “positive” impact on the governorate’s economic and tourism growth and provide about 2000 job opportunities.
Additionally, he indicated that the future jobs will be allocated to the people of Ajloun to support development and employment efforts in the governorate.
Ajlouni valued the JFDZ’s “fruitful” cooperation with the governorate’s local community, municipalities, tourism and environment departments, and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature in supporting implementation of development projects.
