Ramtha, June 2 (Petra) — The Jordan Medical Council approved the
establishment of a higher specialty program in radiation oncology at
the Saudi Center for Radiotherapy at King Abdullah University
Hospital (KAUH), the first accredited program of its kind in Jordan.

KAUH Director-General Hassan Balas said Monday the accreditation
marks a key step in advancing specialized medical education and
radiation oncology services in Jordan, in cooperation with Jordan
University of Science and Technology and in line with international
training standards.

Balas thanked the medical, academic, and administrative teams for
their efforts, saying the program will offer residents advanced
training on the latest treatment technologies.

Laith Samhouri, director of the KAUH’s radiation oncology center and
head of the program, said the program will help qualify national
specialists in radiation oncology inside Jordan and apply expertise
from leading international centers locally.

He said the program’s success depends on integrated work among
radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists,
nurses, and radiation safety officers to ensure safe, advanced care
in line with global best practices.
