Amman, June 22 (Petra) – Chair of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of
Industry Fathi Jaghbir on Monday called for strengthening economic
relations with Pakistan as a “promising” market for Jordanian
industrial exports.

During a meeting with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Khurram
Sarfraz Khan, Jaghbir said Jordan offers an attractive environment
for foreign investment, citing its strategic geographic location and
its role as a gateway to the markets of Iraq, Syria and the Gulf
region.

According to a statement issued by the Chamber, Jaghbir highlighted
Jordan’s network of free trade agreements, which provide Jordanian
products with access to numerous international markets.

He welcomed a proposal to organise a visit by a Jordanian economic
delegation to Pakistan to explore opportunities for cooperation and
partnership.

Jaghbir said that Pakistan produces a wide range of goods,
particularly agricultural products that serve as key inputs for
Jordan’s food manufacturing sector.

He called for launching a direct air route between Jordan and
Pakistan to facilitate trade, investment and people-to-people
exchanges.

Trade data cited during the meeting showed that Jordan’s exports to
Pakistan totaled $19 million last year, while imports from Pakistan
reached $53 million.

For his part, Khan called for expanding partnerships between the
private sectors of both countries and increasing trade and investment
flows.

He urged enhanced communication, the exchange of business delegations
and the organisation of specialised economic forums and business
meetings to identify investment opportunities and build sustainable
partnerships that serve the interests of both nations.
