Amman, June 17 (Petra) — The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate
Affairs condemned on Wednesday the escalation of Israeli settler
terrorism against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, following
arson attacks on two mosques north of Ramallah.
The attacks targeted the Great Mosque in the village of Jiljilya and
the Al-Farouq Mosque in the village of Mazari al-Nubani.
Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali stated that the kingdom rejects
these assaults, describing them as an extension of the extremist
policies of the Israeli government. The actions coincide with ongoing
illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank and inflammatory
statements by officials that fuel extremism, promote violence against
the Palestinian people, and undermine the prospects of achieving
peace based on a two-state solution. He added that Israel, as the
occupying power, bears full responsibility for these attacks.
Al-Majali called on the international community to assume its legal
and moral responsibilities to compel Israel to halt its dangerous
escalation and curb settler violence. He urged international bodies
to hold perpetrators accountable, ensure they do not escape
punishment, and fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian
people to establish an independent, sovereign state along the
pre-June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, calling
it the only path to a comprehensive and lasting regional peace.
