Amman, Aug. 25 (Petra)– The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates
Affairs on Tuesday condemned the Israeli authorities’ raid and
evacuation of the Qalandia Training Center, operated by the United
Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in
occupied Jerusalem, describing the move as a blatant violation of
international law and of the immunities and privileges granted to the
United Nations and its agencies.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Fouad Majali reaffirmed Jordan’s
absolute rejection and strong condemnation of Israel’s continued
systematic campaign against UNRWA, including efforts to restrict its
operations and undermine its vital role, in clear violation of
international law and the advisory opinion issued by the
International Court of Justice (ICJ) in October 2025.

The opinion explicitly affirmed Israel’s obligations to facilitate
UNRWA’s work in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East
Jerusalem.

Majali said the Israeli measures, which constitute an extension of
the policies of Israel’s extremist government and its unlawful
actions in the occupied West Bank, target UNRWA’s presence and its
symbolic role in upholding the Palestinian refugees’ right to return
and compensation under international law, particularly UN Security
Council Resolution 194.

He warned of the consequences of Israel’s illegal measures targeting
UNRWA and its institutions, which provide essential services that
cannot be replaced or substituted. He called on the international
community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities, confront
Israeli decisions and practices targeting UNRWA, and provide the
agency with the necessary political and financial support to continue
delivering vital services to Palestinian refugees across its five
fields of operation, in accordance with its UN mandate.
