Mafraq, June 7 (Petra) — A total of 400 male and female students are
currently enrolled in five accredited vocational and technical
training streams in the northeastern Badia region, a local education
official said on Sunday.

Abdullah Al-Shorafat, Director of the Northeastern Badia District
Education Directorate, told the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that the
accredited programs are distributed across four specialized schools,
including one designated for female students.

The curriculum includes cosmetology for female students and
engineering sub-specialties such as general electricity and
automotive technology, as well as tracks in agricultural education,
business, and information technology.

Al-Shorafat said these enrollment figures reflect a growing shift
among students toward vocational and technical education. The trend
is driven by the sector’s ability to provide graduates with direct
entry into the workforce and open up new career paths tailored to
regional labor market demands.

The directorate has established institutional links to support this
educational path, signing agreements and cooperation memorandums with
Al al-Bayt University and the Northeastern Badia Vocational Training
Institute. The partnerships aim to provide vocational students with
hands-on training and the practical experience required in their
respective fields.

Al-Shorafat added that the directorate plans to introduce new
vocational and technical tracks to address local community and market
needs, subject to the expansion of necessary infrastructure and
student demand for the proposed specialties.
