Amman, June 15 (Petra) – Jordan welcomed the agreement reached
between the United States and Iran to halt military operations and
launch detailed negotiations toward a permanent accord, calling it a
vital step for restoring regional and international stability.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed
appreciation for the diplomatic mediation carried out by Pakistan,
Qatar, and other friendly nations, praising the responsiveness of
both Washington and Tehran to these efforts.
The ministry stressed the importance of securing a permanent deal
that safeguards regional security, aligns with the principles of good
neighborliness, and respects state sovereignty. It further called for
the restoration of maritime security and freedom of navigation in the
Strait of Hormuz to its status prior to February 28, 2026.
Reaffirming its diplomatic stance, the ministry reiterated Jordan’s
support for resolving conflicts through peaceful means in accordance
with international law and the UN Charter to ensure long-term
stability and economic prosperity.
