JVA: Smart Irrigation Technologies Enhance Agricultural Efficiency, Sustainability

Amman, June 24 (Petra) — The Jordan Valley Authority (JVA) has
inaugurated a new automated irrigation and fertigation station
operated by Medjool Village Company for agricultural lands in the
Shouna/Al-Karameh region.

The opening ceremony was attended by the company’s director, Jude
Nabulsi, alongside key stakeholders and agricultural industry
experts.

Secretary-General of the Authority, Eng. Hisham Al-Haisha, said the
project reflects a progressive shift toward modernizing the
agricultural sector through advanced technologies.

He noted that such smart irrigation systems are increasingly being
adopted by investors seeking to enhance productivity while optimizing
the use of water and fertilizers, in line with sustainable
agricultural development goals.

Al-Haisha described the station as a qualitative addition to
agricultural infrastructure, relying on advanced systems that ensure
precise management of irrigation and fertilization processes.

He stressed that these innovations contribute to improving crop
quality and strengthening water-use efficiency, while reinforcing the
Authority’s commitment to supporting initiatives that advance the
sector and improve its resilience to future challenges.

He added that integrating modern technologies into agricultural
practices is no longer optional but essential for improving
productivity and ensuring the sustainable management of water
resources. He also commended Medjool Village Company for its efforts
in adopting best practices and investing in innovative agricultural
solutions.

Al-Nabulsi, for his part, said the project is part of the company’s
broader strategy to modernize its agricultural operations and embrace
technological solutions that enhance efficiency and sustainability,
further consolidating its position in the agricultural sector.

Participants were briefed on the station’s operational model and the
technologies it employs, which are designed to manage irrigation and
fertilization with high precision, ultimately supporting improved
agricultural output and more efficient use of natural resources.
